Fatal Two-Big-Rig Collision on I-580 in Tracy: What We Know and How Families Can Move Forward
A tragic collision involving two big rigs on westbound Interstate 580 in Tracy claimed the life of one driver early Tuesday morning, January 6, 2026. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. just east of International Parkway. Preliminary reports indicate that a white Volvo tractor-trailer traveling in the No. 2 lane struck the rear of another big rig and trailer that was stopped in traffic. The force of the impact pushed both trucks across all westbound lanes and into the center median.
The driver of the Volvo was pinned inside the cab and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the driver's identity. The other truck's driver was not injured. CHP reported no arrests at the scene and has not yet determined whether impairment, distraction, speed, or
